The 57-year-old Ramírez experienced a significant fall after finishing the task of trimming a palm earlier today. Fortunately, he shows "no visible injuries," and his overall condition remains stable, as per a preliminary medical report shared by journalist Carlos Pérez on his Facebook profile.
Currently, Ramírez is receiving care in room 4B at the Dr. Agostinho Neto General Teaching Hospital in Guantánamo, where he was rushed following the accident.
The medical team continues to assess a "faint image at the level of the spine," but they confirm that "his general state is stable, and there are no apparent life-threatening risks."
Ramírez shared with Pérez that the mishap happened while he was descending the palm tree, having already completed the trimming. At approximately five meters above the ground, "the rope or harness holding him gave way," resulting in his fall.
He expressed gratitude for the swift assistance provided by neighbors, the police, the Red Cross, and healthcare workers. He also appreciated the overwhelming support and solidarity from community members and others on social media.
