The Cuban content creator, Lianna (@liannadice), has taken TikTok by storm with her viral post featuring "the timeless Cuban pizza."
In her video, Lianna breaks down the process of crafting the ideal dough to achieve the authentic taste of traditional Cuban pizza. An essential first step, she insists, is selecting the right dishes: “You can find these dishes at Ikea. They're available at Chinese stores too, but Ikea's are the best.”
For the dough, she relies on common wheat flour, warm water, baker's yeast, brown sugar, salt, and a dash of oil.
“Get the cheapest flour; there are many types, but this one will do,” she advises. Lianna mixes 600 milliliters of water with two packets of yeast and a tablespoon of brown sugar, allowing it to sit for 20 minutes to activate the yeast.
She then incorporates this mixture with approximately seven cups of flour, a tablespoon of salt, and a splash of oil.
“If you don’t get the dough right, your pizza won’t be delicious,” she warns.
Once the dough is ready, it needs to rest for an hour covered, after which it's divided into six or seven balls, forming the bases for the pizzas.
Before baking, she suggests lightly greasing the dishes with oil and topping the dough with fried tomato, ham, and cheese. “I really love this tomato, the artisan type from Mercadona; it has a super delicious flavor,” she shares.
The baking starts at 150 degrees and is later increased to 180. “Look at how it turned out… the delicious pizza. The Cuban pizza. I hope you try it,” concludes the creator, presenting the final product of a straightforward, budget-friendly recipe with a Cuban flair.
