The Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Guantánamo has initiated a criminal investigation following the murder of teacher Rolando Castelví Riñat, which took place inside the "José Maceo Grajales" Educational School. This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local educational community.

According to an official statement released on Facebook by the Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on Tuesday night while the educator was on duty for an overnight shift at the school.

The pro-government page "Guantánamo y su Verdad" reported on Facebook that Rolando Castelví Riñat, a history teacher, encountered four individuals who were not affiliated with the institution within the premises.

When he asked them to leave, a confrontation ensued, during which one of the intruders fatally attacked him from behind with a sharp weapon.

The injured teacher was rushed to the Saturnino Lora Torres Provincial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries hours later due to their severity.

Authorities have confirmed that, based on a witness's testimony, two of the alleged assailants have been apprehended and are currently held under provisional arrest as the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Guantánamo continues its investigation.

In its statement, the Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that public prosecution will be pursued and penalties will be sought in accordance with the severity of the crime and the individual characteristics of those involved.
