The unexpected passing of Isiel Díaz Vera, a young Cuban, has left the residents of Punta Alegre in the Chambas municipality deeply shaken.

News of his death spread rapidly across the internet through numerous posts from locals in Ciego de Ávila, a province recently hit hard by a surge in viral illnesses and respiratory issues amid Cuba's crumbling healthcare system.

Many have mourned this loss, as Isiel was employed at the Meliá Costa Rey Hotel in Cayo Coco. Photos shared online depict a robust, cheerful young man whose sudden absence has profoundly affected his community.

Yuniel Pérez, a resident of the area, was among the first to report the tragic event. In a heartfelt farewell on Facebook, he expressed, "Waking up to this sorrowful news breaks my heart. Heaven gained a great angel today. You left without saying goodbye."

In the comments, Pérez confirmed that Isiel "passed away from the virus." Others noted that he had developed pneumonia, was "very ill," and ultimately did not survive.
