In the early hours of November 20, a significant theft rattled the Nuevo Vista Alegre neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba. Several thieves broke into the home of Isabel Belén, a well-known clothing vendor on the bustling Enramadas Street, making off with a substantial sum of money and valuable belongings.

Family members of the victim confirmed that the burglars entered through a window, seizing 400,700 Cuban pesos, 2,000 euros in cash, multiple fans, a flat-screen television, a car battery, two liquefied gas cylinders, and an electric scooter, as reported by local journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

The position of the vehicle in the parking area suggests the involvement of multiple individuals, as they would have needed to lift the electric scooter to remove it from the premises.

Authorities have been alerted, and according to sources close to the investigation, there is already a suspect under scrutiny.

The family stated their sole aim is to recover the stolen goods and see that those responsible are brought to justice.

"This has been a devastating blow. Isabel relies on her daily work, and everything she lost represents years of hard work," expressed a family member who chose to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation.

While officials have yet to release an official statement, local residents voiced their concerns about the increasing number of thefts and robberies in recent months.

"If this can happen in a secure home like Isabel's, no one is safe in the neighborhoods," a local resident told Mayeta.

Anyone with specific information about the stolen items can contact the victim at +53 53630122. The family is offering a reward for verifiable information that leads to the recovery of the items and the identification of the thieves.

This incident highlights the growing issue of public safety in Cuba, where burglaries targeting homes, businesses, and private enterprises have become increasingly common amid the severe economic crisis, shortages, and the lack of effective police response.
