Otaola Criticizes Chocolate MC's Choices After Verdict: "He Didn't Appreciate the Opportunities Given by This Country"

Thursday, November 13, 2025 by Aaron Delgado

Cuban host and commentator Alex Otaola dedicated a segment of his show to discussing the case of reggaeton artist Yosvanis Sierra Hernández, known as Chocolate MC, following his conviction for making direct threats against Damián Valdez Galloso by a jury of seven.

Otaola noted that the musician had numerous chances to change his path but insisted it was his own actions that led to this outcome.

"We still have to see what the sentence will be. The judge might not choose to impose the maximum penalty. Life imprisonment is the harshest possible, but I don't believe it will come to that," Otaola commented.

Otaola's Reflections on the Verdict

He partially agreed with La Diosa's remarks, who defended Chocolate MC and appealed for mercy after the trial.

"La Diosa has a point. Artists often do things to gain attention. It's true that Chocolate has been an addict, we all know it, he has been since arriving here. He's had countless chances to reform after each challenge, yet chose to continue behaving poorly. Unfortunately, this is the outcome," he expressed.

The host also revealed that he spoke with La Diosa after the trial, and that the singer shared Chocolate MC's acknowledgment of his mistakes and admission that Otaola had been right in much of his previous criticism.

"La Diosa told me that Chocolate said to her, 'Man, say it, Otaola was always right. He never said it out of malice, and look at me now.' I told him to take down that video immediately when he posted it. You crossed every line, Chocolate, went way beyond, as the Spaniards say. Here are the consequences of bad actions and a poor record," Otaola recounted.

Future Implications for Chocolate MC

In his analysis, Otaola speculated that the final sentence could range from five to six years, although he didn't rule out a longer sentence depending on the judge's assessment.

"I see it being between five or six years at minimum, and perhaps up to 15 years maximum, but I don't think it will go that far. I believe five or six years is what will actually happen," he predicted.

Otaola concluded his remarks by expressing regret over the artist's downfall, describing him as a talent who failed to seize the significant opportunities offered by the United States.

"It's unfortunate, but these are the consequences of not valuing the immense opportunity this country provided," he concluded.
