Business tycoon Elon Musk has once again made headlines with his outspoken remarks during an interview, where he criticized communism and praised Cuban Americans, calling them "the most fervent capitalists in America."
While chatting on comedian Joe Rogan's podcast, Rogan posed the question to Musk, "Who are the most fervent capitalists in America?" Without hesitation, the owner of Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX responded, "Those damn Cubans."
Amid laughter, Musk asserted that immigrants from the island possess the strongest capitalist mindset in the nation, a statement that quickly went viral on social media, particularly within the Cuban American community.
The host remarked that Cubans "don't want to hear any socialist nonsense" because "they know exactly what it means in reality."
Musk nodded in agreement, adding, "It's extreme government oppression," and continued to commend the Cubans who have contributed to the growth of South Florida: "I don't know how they did it, but they succeeded. Nobody flees to Cuba."
The billionaire seized the opportunity to highlight the contrast between communist regimes and free countries: "I've always wondered why the boats only come from Cuba to Florida and not the other way around," he stated.
"If communism were so great, there would be boats sailing in the opposite direction, but that never happens," he added.
Musk also drew parallels between Cuba's situation and historical Berlin during the Cold War: "A straightforward way to identify which ideology is flawed is to see who has to build walls to keep their people in," he explained.
"It was the East Berlin communists who built the wall, not those in West Berlin," he pointed out.
The entrepreneur concluded that communist societies are "a nightmare of control and repression," joking that "if socialist-run cities continue on this path, they'll soon have to build walls to keep people from leaving."
The South African billionaire, recognized for his direct and provocative style, has frequently voiced his opposition to collectivist ideologies and his support for individual freedom and market economies, principles he believes "define the essence of America."
The interview clip has already garnered millions of views and has become a hot topic among the Cuban exile community, who appreciate Musk's acknowledgment of their entrepreneurial and anti-communist spirit.
These remarks follow recent elections where young Democrat Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump labeled him a "communist," but stated he would be willing to "help a little."
