YouTuber Unveils Motel Prices in Havana: Cubans React to the Luxury Option

Monday, April 14, 2025 by Felix Ortiz

In a recent video by Cuban YouTuber JSanT_TV, the stark contrast between various motels in Havana is laid bare, highlighting a range of prices from the extremely affordable to the surprisingly luxurious. The video has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, particularly due to the conditions at the cheapest option and the unexpected comfort found at the most expensive one.

Exploring Havana's Motel Prices: From Bargains to Extravagance

The first motel, located centrally in Havana, charges 600 Cuban pesos for a three-hour stay, but the conditions are far from ideal. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom littered with trash, cockroaches, used condoms, and cigarette butts. “There wasn’t even any water,” the YouTuber expressed with frustration. “It was a disaster, I don't know how anyone could do anything there.”

Located in Centro Habana, the second motel costs 1,500 CUP per hour. It offers a bit more cleanliness and a functional bathroom, yet lacks additional amenities and did not have running water for a shower. “We left immediately,” said the influencer.

The third motel, priced at 4,000 Cuban pesos for three hours, was a pleasant surprise in terms of comfort. Upon entering the room, the content creator and his partner noticed a clean scent inviting them to test the bed. Strategically placed mirrors and a sturdy aluminum pole for pole dancing enthusiasts were notable features.

The room featured soundproofing and a jacuzzi with a hydromassage. Also intriguing was the presence of a mysterious "curved chair," which the young couple humorously admitted not knowing how to use.

Social Media Frenzy: "Share the Location of the Last One, Please"

Cubans were quick to react, flooding the comment section with jokes, anecdotes, requests, and even covert reservations. “The expensive one is the five-star hotel in Río Cristal,” several users claimed. “I need the address of the last one, it’s for a school project,” another humorously commented. “I went with my husband when it was being built. We were the first to use it. It’s practically our room,” one Cuban proudly revealed.

Others did not hide their disappointment with the cheapest motel: “If it’s the first one, better to do it in the park,” remarked one person. The third room received the best reviews, although the cost is steep for the average Cuban.

Many users confirmed that motels in the Boyeros municipality are the most popular and recommended in the Cuban capital. “If you haven’t been to Río Cristal, you haven’t lived,” a fan of the channel asserted.

JSanT_TV's video not only highlights the reality of Havana's motels but also sheds light on an often undocumented part of Cuban life: the quest for a comfortable and safe space for intimate relationships. In Cuba, enjoying such a luxury is often a rare privilege.
