Authorities in Santiago de Cuba have recently apprehended several armed robbers who had been carrying out violent thefts against pedestrians in the city. Through various operations, law enforcement successfully detained individuals involved in these criminal activities, recovering stolen items and restoring safety in the Reparto Sueño area and its surroundings.

The Facebook page "Héroes del Moncada," known for its alignment with the regime and as a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), reported an incident on Las Américas Avenue near the Guillermón Moncada Stadium. In this case, an individual named Yasmani threatened a young man with a knife to steal his Samsung A11 phone and wallet. The victim reported the robbery, and within hours, the police captured the suspect and retrieved the stolen belongings.

In another incident within the same neighborhood, a group of criminals was caught and detained by authorities after committing a series of nighttime robberies using knives, according to the official account. Witnesses stated that the assailants had been operating in the area for some time, targeting pedestrians and taking valuables such as cell phones, wallets, chains, and other personal items.

During the arrests, officers managed to recover several stolen items, including a bicycle, a gold chain, and clothing, which had been taken from a young man days earlier. These actions, showcased on social media as examples of the regime's law enforcement effectiveness, also highlight the level of insecurity facing the population and the increasing violence where knives play a concerning role.

In recent months, violence in Cuba has escalated, with numerous incidents reflecting the growing insecurity on the island. Recently, in Matanzas, authorities detained a man with an unregistered shotgun in his vehicle, raising concerns about the illegal access to firearms in the country. This arrest coincided with the approval of a new Cuban regime decree aimed at tightening control over weapons and ammunition, justified as a measure to enhance security and align with international standards.

Despite these regulations, acts of violence continue to rise. In Camagüey, an elderly woman was brutally beaten during a blackout to steal her belongings, illustrating how the lack of electricity increases the vulnerability of residents. The Cuban government, which until recently denied the surge in crime, acknowledged in June 2024 the rise in violent crime, including the use of firearms in robberies and clashes. The lack of resources and the economic crisis have been cited as key factors in this phenomenon, creating a climate of fear among citizens.
