Air Europa has revealed plans to enhance its flight schedule to Havana starting next summer, establishing a daily connection between the Cuban capital and Madrid. This initiative is part of a strategy to expand its transatlantic routes, aiming to strengthen the ties between Europe and the Americas.
Globalia, the airline's parent company, announced that the frequency of flights to Havana will increase from six to seven per week, ensuring daily service between the two destinations. Previously, the airline did not operate on Sundays, but come June, flights will be available every day.
The José Martí International Airport in Havana confirmed via its official Telegram channel that Air Europa currently runs daily flights to the city, with the exception of Sundays. With the new summer schedule, the airline is expected to maintain uninterrupted daily flights.
By increasing flights to Havana, Air Europa strengthens its foothold in Cuba, positioning itself as a leading choice for travelers seeking direct flights between the Island and Spain. Presently, the airline offers daily flights to cities like Miami, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lima, and Santo Domingo.
In addition to Cuba, Air Europa plans to enhance its offerings to other destinations, making Medellín (Colombia), Asunción (Paraguay), Panama, and New York (USA) available with daily flights.
More Seats and High Occupancy
Air Europa's expansion strategy involves not only more routes and frequent flights but also an increase in passenger capacity. By 2025, the airline aims to provide 3.5 million seats on its long-haul routes, surpassing the capacity for 2024. The airline projects to transport 3.3 million passengers this year, maintaining an occupancy rate above 84% for each flight.
According to the aviation portal Aviación al día, the company plans to enhance the flight experience and improve operational efficiency by adding three new Boeing 787 Dreamliner units this year.
