The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed on Wednesday that Cuban influencer Cinthya Medrano García, known online as "La Cintumbare," was deported following her failure to appear before an immigration judge on October 18, 2023. This absence led to a deportation order issued in her absence.

Speaking to Martí Noticias, an ICE spokesperson confirmed that the 28-year-old social media personality was deported last Thursday after spending several weeks in ICE custody. Medrano García entered the U.S. on June 6, 2022, through Lukeville, Arizona, without being examined or admitted by an immigration officer.

On that same day, Border Patrol took her into custody, issued her a notice to appear, and released her on June 8 under an order of recognizance with periodic reporting requirements. However, her failure to attend the October 18, 2023, immigration hearing led to an in absentia deportation order.

Later, in August 2024, "La Cintumbare" attempted to have her case reopened, but her request was denied in September. On January 11, Border Patrol apprehended her in Rocksprings, Texas. Upon confirming her irregular immigration status, she was arrested and transferred to the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center on January 13, where she remained in custody until her deportation on the first flight to the island organized by the Trump Administration.

"La Cintumbare" gained notoriety on social media for her controversial statements, including her expressed intention not to work in the U.S. and to rely on government assistance. She was also involved in public disputes, notably facing a lawsuit from Cuban singer Dianelys Alfonso Cartaya, known as "La Diosa," over insults and personal attacks.

Days before her deportation, she posted a video on social media confirming her detention and anticipating her potential return to Cuba. Since her repatriation, the influencer has been chronicling her experiences and sharing her thoughts on this new chapter in her life.
