Tuesday, March 4, 2025 by Ava Castillo

An 11-month-old baby girl who was reportedly thrown from a fourth-floor window in Jatibonico, Sancti Spíritus, is in good health with no visible injuries, according to updates from the José Martí Pérez Provincial Pediatric Hospital. Dr. Frank Felipe Martín, the head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital, described the child's recovery as "practically a miracle," highlighting the remarkable resilience some children exhibit when facing severe trauma.

Following the incident last Friday, an ambulance equipped with a pediatric intensive care specialist was dispatched to the scene immediately after the alert. Upon arrival, the medical team found the baby stable, showing no obvious signs of bleeding or fractures.

At the hospital, comprehensive radiological tests, an ultrasound, and a CT scan were conducted, all of which returned negative results, except for a minor scratch on her neck. Despite the lack of serious injuries, doctors opted to keep her under observation in the ICU.

The following day, further ultrasounds and tests confirmed the infant's good health. "We were able to verify that the little girl was healthy," Dr. Martín stated, emphasizing, "It's practically a miracle that an 11-month-old infant, after falling from a fourth floor, isn't harmed at all."

Dr. Martín did not deny that the baby, named Nathaly, had indeed fallen from such a great height. He stressed the extraordinary resilience of young children in the face of severe trauma. "It is often said that a child is not just a small adult, and while they can withstand certain traumas, the fact that this baby sustained no serious injuries after such a shocking fall is something we have never encountered in our experience," he concluded.
