A Cuban father residing in the United States is appealing for assistance to reunite with his four minor children after their mother and his former partner succumbed to cancer in Cuba. Adiel Coca, the father of these children—two boys and two teenagers—expressed his plea on social media.
"These are my kids. I kindly ask everyone to share this plea. Just one dollar from each of you would be a tremendous blessing. I need to hire an attorney to bring my children here," he implored on Facebook.
According to Coca, the children endured 13 harrowing months as they watched their mother suffer from terminal colon cancer that spread throughout her spine. "At such a young age, they had to close the eyes of the person they loved the most," he shared in his post.
Having been away from Cuba for a year, Coca is desperate to have his family join him in the U.S. "Edwin, the eldest at 17, quit school to take care of his younger siblings so they could continue their education. Eimy, 15, the second oldest, attempted suicide upon learning they might be placed in an orphanage. Thankfully, medical professionals intervened just in time to save her," he explained.
"The youngest ones, Enisi, 10, and Enzo, 8, are in a severe state of depression. They neither sleep nor eat properly and are unable to focus on school as they are overwhelmed with tears, feeling completely abandoned," he added.
The distressed father has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise the necessary funds for the legal process and travel expenses. The campaign aims to collect $2,000, with $205 gathered at the time of this report.
