Cuban Woman Shares Unpleasant Experience at Florida Walmart While Shopping with Her Daughters

Saturday, February 22, 2025 by Sophia Martinez

A Cuban mother residing in the United States took to social media to recount an unfortunate experience at a Walmart in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Frequently sharing snippets of her daily life, she described the store as "a madhouse" and expressed a preference for driving a bit further to shop at the calmer Walmart in Fort Myers. "There's no way to shop in peace there. I'd rather drive ten more minutes to Fort Myers," stated @yeli_95_ in her video.

Her dissatisfaction with the Lehigh Acres location intensified when a seemingly intoxicated man nearly sat on one of her daughters. "I had to push him away and say a few words. I know it can happen anywhere, but the vibe at that Walmart is off-putting," she remarked, noting her general reluctance to venture out alone with her daughters due to ongoing concerns about child safety.

"I try my best not to go out alone with the kids because of all the child abduction scares. When I'm out, I'm hyper-vigilant, assuming everyone could be a threat. Call me crazy, but I'd rather be cautious," she confessed.

This time, however, she had no choice, as her husband was at work and the pantry needed restocking. She recounted with affection how her eldest son, upon learning of her shopping trip, asked her to wait until the afternoon so he could accompany her, knowing she dislikes going out alone. "I laughed and told him, 'Yes, sweetheart, don't worry, I need to do it in the morning because the stores are less crowded then.'"

Beyond her dissatisfaction with the shopping experience, she was also taken aback by the steep prices. "I couldn't purchase everything on my list, and even though this cart is a trooper, I spent exactly $200 on just the basics. Everything is outrageously expensive; prices need to come down," she lamented.

Reactions on Social Media

The video elicited a range of responses online. Some users suggested she subscribe to Walmart's membership service, which offers free home delivery. "You can get the membership and have everything delivered to your doorstep at no extra cost, it's the best," one follower advised.

Others empathized with her safety concerns and discomfort with shopping alone with children. "We all have a Walmart we avoid, and I’m the same way, I don't like going out alone with the kids for shopping," another user shared.
