The Cuban baseball community mourns the passing of Ibrahim José Brull Arias, a prominent figure and the oldest world champion in the island's baseball history. At the age of 96, Brull concluded his final chapter after a valiant struggle with health issues, leaving an indelible legacy in Cuban baseball, as confirmed by the Cuban Baseball Federation on X.

Born in Bayamo, Brull excelled as a pitcher and played a crucial role in winning the 1951 and 1952 world championships, establishing himself as an icon of Cuban amateur baseball. His remarkable talent was evident not just internationally but also within Cuba, where he had an impressive career in both amateur and professional circuits before the establishment of the National Series (SN).

Until his passing, Brull was the oldest living former Cuban baseball player and one of the few remaining from the pre-SN era still residing in Cuba. Undoubtedly, his departure signifies a significant loss.
