A Santería ritual held in a Hialeah residence took a deadly turn, erupting into a violent confrontation that resulted in stabbings and gunfire, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Milton Cao, is a convicted felon since May 2012.
The incident involved four individuals and occurred on Wednesday, February 12, around 10:00 PM at a home located at 3905 West 10th Court. According to a police report accessed by América TeVe, the altercation began when Cao and another man exited the house, leading to Cao shooting the man in the leg.
The wounded individual returned inside, grabbed a knife, and stabbed a 50-year-old man in the head, as well as his 16-year-old son who tried to defend his father, sustaining multiple arm injuries. As the unarmed gunshot victim attempted to leave, Cao fired several more shots, ultimately killing him.
A local neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, told América TeVe that the deceased was a young man and that his mother arrived at the scene to identify his body. "I heard the mother screaming, and it distressed me too. I haven't slept," she recounted.
Paramedics transported the two injured individuals to nearby hospitals. Local 10 reported that the teenager was taken to Nicklaus Children's Hospital and is expected to recover. His father, who still had a knife embedded in his head, was moved to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Cao is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. On Friday, he appeared in court facing charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of cocaine.
