In a significant operation, the Miami Beach Police successfully retrieved a collection of stolen luxury vehicles estimated to be worth around $5.3 million. This effort resulted in the arrest of three individuals. On January 31, three Armenian nationals were apprehended for their involvement in a nationwide organized crime ring focused on stealing and reselling high-end cars. The initial report concerned a stolen Rolls Royce.
"This case highlights the meticulous investigative work by our detectives to pinpoint and dismantle a sophisticated criminal network specializing in luxury vehicle theft," stated Police Chief Wayne Jones to Telemundo 51. "To date, our detectives have collectively recovered approximately $5.3 million in stolen luxury vehicles through various investigations," he added.
The police disclosed that the criminals gained access to the vehicle dispatch system, altered delivery destinations, and rerouted the cars. They deceived truck drivers and redirected shipments to fraudulent locations. Christopher Bess, spokesperson for the Miami Beach Police, noted that this represents a novel and complex crime trend.
"Our investigators have uncovered and resolved an issue for which many officers nationwide are seeking assistance. However, our work isn't finished. There are more pieces to this puzzle," he told Local 10.
The suspects, identified as Yuriy Korotovskyy, 41, and Hrant Nazarian, 43, residents of Aventura, Miami-Dade, and Arman Gevorgyan, 53, from Van Nuys, California, acted as the intermediaries orchestrating these schemes. They face numerous charges, including grand theft, trafficking in stolen property, and conspiracy to commit organized fraud. Additional arrests are anticipated.
