First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has announced the reopening of the White House for free public tours, which had been paused in December. In a statement from her office, she expressed enthusiasm alongside the President for inviting visitors to explore "the extraordinary history of this iconic and beautiful place."
"There is a wealth of knowledge to gain about the U.S. presidency, the First Families who lived here, and our nation's rich history through firsthand experience at the White House. This opportunity is unparalleled globally, and we are honored to continue this tradition for the hundreds of thousands of visitors each year," Melania shared on her X account.
Starting Tuesday, February 25, the public can once again enjoy these tours following their suspension due to the presidential transition. The tours will cover the public rooms of the East Wing and the residence, including the Vermeil Room, the Library, the China Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, the Green Room, the State Dining Room, and a view of the White House Kennedy Garden. Secret Service officers will be present to answer questions regarding the history, art, furnishings, current uses, and more of each room.
For U.S. citizens, visit requests must be submitted between 7 and 90 days in advance through their state's Congressional representative. Foreign visitors should coordinate through their respective embassies. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and are available from 7:30 am to 11:30 am Tuesday through Thursday, and from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm Friday and Saturday, excluding federal holidays and other specific dates.
