Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has firmly denied the circulating rumors that his wife, Casey DeSantis, might run to succeed him as governor in 2026. During a conversation with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, DeSantis clarified that his wife has no plans to enter the electoral race, dismissing the long-standing speculations as unfounded.

"People have been urging her to run for office for quite some time. She’s a force of nature... but it's not something she's pursuing. I think a lot of people are simply concerned about the future of the state," DeSantis stated when asked about the topic.

The governor emphasized that these rumors aren't recent developments, noting, "People have been asking her to do this for a long time."

When Ingraham inquired if he had discussed the matter with President Donald Trump, DeSantis denied having such a conversation but acknowledged Trump's high regard for his wife. "He respects the First Lady a lot, and everyone in Florida respects her. She has done an extraordinary job for the state. Naturally, she's a wonderful wife and mother to three children, and she has an inspiring story," he shared.

DeSantis also mentioned that Casey might be even more conservative than he is. "Even though I might be considered the most conservative governor in the country, she could be even more conservative than me," he remarked. Ingraham agreed with this assessment, saying, "I believe so. I know Casey. I think she could be."

Speculation about Casey DeSantis possibly running for governor gained traction, especially after reports surfaced about a discussion during a Republican donor meeting in Palm Beach County regarding her candidacy. Some donors have been encouraging her to consider the bid, though no official comments have been made until now.

Her husband, Governor Ron DeSantis, faces term limits and will not be able to seek re-election. The couple married in 2010 and have three children: Madison, four; Mason, three; and Mamie, who is just over a year and a half old and was the first baby born in 50 years at the governor's mansion in Tallahassee.

Originally from Ohio, Casey DeSantis holds a degree in Economics from the University of Charleston. She has an extensive background in television, having worked as a producer, host, and reporter, and has been honored with an Emmy Award. Additionally, she was a three-time U.S. national equestrian champion. As Florida's First Lady, she has spearheaded several initiatives, including "Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity," a project aimed at paving a personal path to prosperity for Floridians. She has also collaborated with sports teams and athletes across the state to address the stigma surrounding mental health.
