Friday, February 14, 2025 by Albert Rivera

Miami-Dade authorities have announced the arrest of four individuals linked to the murder of Delilah Ruiz, a 20-year-old Hispanic woman. She was fatally shot on Saturday, February 8th, outside her home in Hialeah. Among those arrested is her boyfriend, Elijah Clarke, 19, identified as the alleged shooter.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) reported, through local media, that the victim was at her residence when an argument over money erupted with her boyfriend. This dispute was centered around a shared bank account. Reports indicate that Delilah Ruiz discovered Clarke had transferred money from their account. In response, she withdrew the remaining $37 and sent it to a friend.

Shortly after, Clarke allegedly arrived at the residence, began banging on windows, and vandalizing Ruiz's car. The situation escalated when Clarke purportedly pulled out a gun and shot Delilah Ruiz.

The tragic event took place around 7:56 p.m. on February 8th at the address 18963 NW 63 Court Circle. MDSO officers responded to the scene following reports of gunfire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics rushed the young woman to Memorial Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead despite efforts to save her.

The victim's grandfather disclosed that his granddaughter was shot twice and that paramedics informed him she had no pulse and passed away at the scene when they transported her into the ambulance.

Clarke's Escape and Subsequent Arrests

Neighbors informed Univision that Clarke and Ruiz were in a romantic relationship, although they were reportedly on bad terms at the time of the murder. After committing the crime, Clarke fled the scene in a vehicle allegedly driven by his friend, Christopher Valdés. Prompt action by authorities helped identify the suspects and issue arrest warrants.

On Monday, February 10th, the MDSO's Violent Street Crimes Task Force, in collaboration with the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the Miramar Police Department, arrested Christopher Valdés in Miramar. Valdés, 19, faces charges of being an accessory to the murder, as he allegedly aided Clarke in escaping the crime scene.

The following day, February 11th, Clarke was located and apprehended in Houston, Texas, by local police. Along with him, Rafael Torralba and Angelina Valledor, a 17-year-old, were arrested and face charges for obstructing apprehension and prosecution.

Clarke is expected to be extradited to Florida in the coming days, where he will face murder charges. Meanwhile, friends and family of Ruiz have set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses.

Authorities continue their investigation to accurately determine the involvement of the other arrestees in the case.
