This February 11th marks what would have been the 102nd birthday of the legendary Cuban artist Rosita Fornés (New York, 1923 - Miami, 2020). Her daughter, Rosa María Medel, took the opportunity to share cherished memories with CiberCuba on this significant date. "For us, for her grandchildren, and for all her friends and admirers who loved her dearly, it's a time to reminisce about the beautiful moments I shared with my mother, our beloved Rosita. I was privileged to work extensively with her in theater, television, and even radio," expressed Rosa María Medel to the platform.

On this memorable day, Rosa María Medel recalls the journeys she embarked on with Rosita Fornés to Spain, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States. "These are unforgettable memories for me. Being by her side meant everything. Since childhood, I was always captivated by something—her smile. My mother had a unique smile, not just for her audience, but for everyone around her."

Rosa María also remembers that Rosita always had a kind word for everyone, although she could be stern. "She had a strong personality because she wanted everything to be perfect. She was someone who, if a task was done at home, wanted it flawless. But soon after, she would show that joy and distinctive smile once again."

Summing up her mother's successful life, Rosa María Medel said succinctly, "She was someone who lived to give love and joy," and explained with pride, "Her artistry and professionalism were a means to share the love she felt in her heart, which granted her excellence as both an artist and a person."

Rosa María understands that her mother, the great Rosita Fornés, was "an enviable, masterful woman," and today she thanks God for allowing her to "dream of her." She feels "happy, honored, and privileged" to be Rosita's daughter and to celebrate her 102nd anniversary.
