On this Tuesday, the spotlight is on the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), which unexpectedly rises in Cuba's informal market, reaching 245 CUP. This is a five-peso increase from its price since January 13, nearly a month ago. Despite government assurances that MLC stores will not vanish, the recent announcement by the Deputy Minister of Internal Trade to open 50 new stores across the country notably excludes MLC cards. Instead, these new stores will focus on cash transactions in foreign currencies or payments via Visa, Mastercard, or the government-issued Classic card.
As for the US dollar, it remains steady in Cuba at 340 pesos, maintaining this rate for four consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, the euro has stabilized at 345 CUP after two days of continuous increases.
