The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Cienfuegos has removed two of its leaders due to "mistakes and attitude issues." According to a report from local broadcaster Radio Ciudad del Mar, the Provincial Committee's Plenary decided to remove José López Zuñet, a member of its Executive Bureau, for "attitude problems regarding assigned tasks."
Similarly, the Municipal Committee in Rodas took the same action against Mayré Fornaris Soriano, who was serving as the first secretary in that area, due to "errors in fulfilling her duties," which affected the control of various organizational processes. The Provincial Bureau has appointed Maykel Betancourt Dueñas as the new leader of the Party in Rodas, replacing Fornaris Soriano.
As is common when dismissing its officials, the regime issued a brief statement citing management errors of the ousted individuals, providing no further details. It is notable that both López Zuñet and Fornaris Soriano have not only been removed from their positions but also expelled from the Party, marking a significant blow to their political careers.
"Why don't they muster the courage to explain these mistakes to the people? It's our right to know," questioned an IT professional on Radio Ciudad del Mar's Facebook post.
A banking sector worker commented, "Given the volume of real complaints from the people of Cienfuegos, no one should remain in their post, because there are issues with everything in this province."
"It's a miracle this is even news; usually, they make these explosive moves in secrecy to hide their 'attitude' lapses. Hahaha, 'attitude issues and errors' is a good definition, because they always find a name for it instead of calling it what it is. We'll see how far they'll go to 'correct distortions' in corruption," remarked an artist.
A resident of Cienfuegos stated, "More and more Party officials and members are 'making mistakes in their roles.' Wouldn't it be better to call them what they are: corrupt? They should also stop focusing so much on problems in other countries and finally propose concrete solutions to all the issues plaguing this people."
