The community of Ciego de Ávila is once again in mourning after a tragic road accident claimed two lives and left several individuals injured on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place on the Central Highway, specifically on the stretch linking the city of Ciego de Ávila to the small town of Jicotea. A car and a horse-drawn cart were involved in the collision.

Social media posts have identified the victims as Bety and Reivi, a couple from the nearby village of Guayacanes, who were traveling with their child, Raisel. According to one commenter, the couple’s son was injured, potentially losing an arm, and has undergone surgery. The precise number of injured parties and their identities have yet to be disclosed.

An update on the Facebook page "La Tijera" mentioned that the cause of the accident remains unknown. Nevertheless, another post suggested that the driver of the horse-drawn cart was to blame for the deadly crash. Photos shared by "La Tijera" showed police officers on motorcycles at the scene.
