A severe traffic accident unfolded yesterday afternoon at the entrance of the Monte Carlo neighborhood in the city of Camagüey. A motorcyclist collided with a Lada car, leaving him gravely injured. Initial reports on social media suggested that the motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries at the scene. However, subsequent accounts refuted this claim, stating that while his condition is critical, he is still fighting for his life.

So far, there have been no official statements regarding the precise circumstances of the crash or an updated report on the motorcyclist's health. Local authorities have yet to release any information about this incident. This accident adds to the escalating number of traffic mishaps in Cuba, where the increasing number of motorcycles and inadequate road signage have been identified as contributing factors.

Earlier this weekend, in the early hours of Saturday, a tragic accident occurred in Guantánamo, resulting in one death and another person injured. Witnesses and local authorities reported that the incident took place around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ahogados and Crombet streets. Two motorcyclists, traveling at high speed, struck an elderly man approximately 65 years old. The victim died instantly at the scene.

Although it was clarified that the motorcyclists were not racing illegally, witnesses confirmed they were speeding. "One of the motorcyclists was taken to the 'Agosthino Neto' Provincial Hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash," reported the Facebook profile 'Miguel Noticias', managed by government-affiliated journalist Miguel Reyes Mendoza.

In recent weeks, another incident involved a motorcyclist who hit an elderly woman in El Vedado, Havana, and stayed at the scene to assist her. This event happened on Wednesday, January 29th, around noon, at the intersection of 17 and K streets, as described by a witness who shared photos on Facebook. "The motorcyclist wasn't at fault; it was the grandmother's carelessness. (As far as I know)," shared Aramis Taboada, a broadcaster and audiovisual director, on social media.
