A Cuban immigrant seeking asylum has reported that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency postponed an appointment she had scheduled for eight months, which was crucial for her residency application in the United States. The young woman, known as Elizabeth, mentioned that despite arriving on time, her appointment was rescheduled due to the policy changes under Donald Trump's administration, as reported by FOX News.

"I had my appointment set since May 10th, but when I arrived, they informed me that, because there's a new administration, my appointment was rescheduled," Elizabeth explained in Spanish, visibly frustrated. The asylum seeker, who fled repression and dictatorship in Cuba last year, expressed that this rescheduling adds to an already uncertain process.

Elizabeth entered the U.S. legally last year using the CBP One app, which allowed migrants to schedule appointments at official ports of entry. However, this tool was dismantled earlier this month as part of broader changes in immigration policies. "I know several people who got stuck at the border because their appointments were canceled," she noted, referring to those impacted by the app's suspension.

This week, immigration attorney Patricia Hernández stated that "there is a very high probability" that Cubans who entered the United States through humanitarian parole and CBP One and have been in the country for less than two years, could face deportation by the Trump Administration. This risk particularly affects those who entered with parole, which has expired, and have not submitted any immigration applications.

Similarly, those who crossed the border and have pending processes find themselves in a state of uncertainty.
