The Lidio Ramón Pérez power plant, commonly known as Felton, has been taken offline from the National Electric System (SEN) this Thursday for maintenance. This development was shared by official journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo on Facebook, stating that the plant will remain out of operation for approximately 10 days.

Eric Milanés Quinzán, the plant's general manager, confirmed that the shutdown of the machinery was completed precisely at 8:22 am. The maintenance work will involve cleaning air heaters in the boiler and condenser, as well as inspecting two bearings within the turbine.

The timing of Felton's disconnection is particularly concerning as the Electric Union has projected a day filled with extensive power outages, forecasting a deficit exceeding 1,400 MW. The report from the entity indicates that, in addition to the Holguín-based plant, units from the Santa Cruz, Cienfuegos, and Renté power stations are also undergoing maintenance. This is compounded by existing issues with units at the Santa Cruz, Renté, and Felton stations.
