Florida's Republican Congressman, Carlos A. Giménez, issued a stern warning to Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel via social media, following Díaz-Canel's premature endorsement of Colombian President Gustavo Petro in his confrontation with former U.S. President Donald Trump. "Handpicked dictator, don't worry so much about Colombia, because what awaits you is of biblical proportions," Giménez declared, forecasting tough times ahead for the Cuban regime, aligning with the predictions of the new Trump administration and its Secretary of State, Cuban-American Marco Rubio.

The statement emerges amidst escalating tensions between the United States and Cuba, particularly after Trump's administration decided to re-list the island as a state sponsor of terrorism. Giménez, along with fellow Cuban-American congress members like Mario Díaz-Balart and María Elvira Salazar, has been a persistent and vocal critic of Havana's regime, frequently condemning its systematic violations of human rights.
