Five individuals injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday morning in Mayarí, Holguín, are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals across the province. According to Dr. Irene Fuentes Peña, director of the Mayarí Hospital, three of these individuals are in a critical condition and are being attended to at the hospital. This information was shared by journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo in a Facebook post earlier in the afternoon.

Among the injured is Melba Rosa Tamayo Nápoles, 53, from Las Coloradas, Moa, who sustained a fracture in her left fibula. Iván Romero Paumier, 56, residing in Rolo Monterrey, Moa, and Islandi Durán Monjes, 50, from Santa María, Barajagua, both suffered multiple contusions, the source detailed.

Additionally, two more individuals were transferred to hospitals in the city of Holguín. Yasmani Peña Revé, 28, from Sagua de Tánamo, sustained a cranial injury, and Carmelina Estévez Ramírez, 67, from Las Coloradas, Moa, suffered an open ankle fracture.

As of the time this report was published, no further updates on the condition of the five injured patients have been provided. The accident took place near the entrance to Dos Bahías, in Cabonico, and fortunately, there were no fatalities.

The accident involved a truck belonging to the Moa port, which veered off the road and overturned as the driver attempted to avoid a cyclist.

Tragic Accident Hours Earlier

This incident occurred merely hours after a tragic accident claimed the lives of six people traveling in a rented car for tourists. The group was en route from the city of Holguín to Moa in the early morning hours.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing the Castillito bridge, crashing into a large metal pipe. Five individuals, including a child, died at the scene, and another person succumbed to severe injuries hours later in the hospital.

The deceased include Yancarlos Jiménez Carmenate, 12; Daniuska Carmenate Galván, 43; and Adriel Jiménez Pelegrín, 37, all of whom resided in the United States. Rachel Pelegrín González, 77, and Yaddelis Pérez Osorio, 37, both from Las Coloradas, Moa, also perished in the crash. Yannelis Pérez Osorio, 33, who suffered severe multiple injuries, died hours later at a hospital in Holguín.
