Geandry Blanco Rodríguez, a Cuban delivery worker who had been missing since Thursday afternoon after leaving his home in the Luyanó district of Havana with a considerable sum of money, was found safe on Friday. Blanco himself confirmed this on social media.

A student at the CUJAE and a delivery worker for the Mandao app, Blanco fell victim to a scam, losing 50,000 CUP in a fraudulent purchase of Freely Convertible Currency (MLC). "I'm back, but I'm devastated. Losing 50,000 pesos like this is no small matter. It represents my hard work and my hope to move forward and improve. Recovering from this won't be easy, as my family relies on me for daily income," he expressed, sharing his distress over the incident.

Blanco also identified the alleged scammer, sharing a phone number linked to the individual: 53690225. He noted that the Facebook profile used in the fraudulent transaction belonged to someone named "Melissa Suárez," which has since disappeared from the social network.

In a comment on a social media post by his mother, Miosotis Rodríguez, who had pleaded for help when her son went missing, Blanco's situation gained attention. Many users offered him support, emphasizing that his safety is what truly matters despite the financial loss. They also encouraged him to report the scam to the police.

"Lately, many have become cold-hearted, focusing only on harming those who struggle daily to make a living," lamented one commenter.

Before Blanco was found, his mother had mentioned that it was unusual for him to disappear without notifying anyone. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact him, his phone initially rang, then was turned off. Details of the scam have not been disclosed. A social media user commented that she might have seen Blanco wandering, seemingly disoriented, in the Villa Panamericana boulevard area.

In recent years, there has been a rise in reports of missing persons in Cuba, coinciding with an increase in violence. This trend causes significant concern for families who, lacking an official channel to address these cases, turn to social media and independent outlets to seek assistance in finding their loved ones.
