A Cuban mother, Miosotis Rodríguez, has reported the disappearance of her son in Havana. According to her Facebook post, the young man, whose name she chose not to reveal, left home on Thursday carrying a significant amount of money and has not returned since.

Rodríguez emphasized that her son usually informs her before going anywhere and expressed concern as numerous attempts to reach him by phone first resulted in ringing, but later, the phone was turned off. She pleaded for anyone with information to reach out at the number 53716472.

"He has been missing since yesterday and had a lot of money with him," Rodríguez mentioned in the comments of her post. This incident is the latest in a series of disappearances that have alarmed the Cuban public.

Rising Concerns Over Recent Disappearances in Cuba

Recently, Cuban families have sought assistance to locate teenagers Melanie Rodríguez (13 years old) and Yoandriane Díaz (14), who went missing in Matanzas. Earlier in January, the family of Daniel Cuesta Velázquez requested help to find him after he vanished in Havana while heading to the military unit for his Mandatory Military Service. Fortunately, Daniel was found a few days later and safely returned home.

In December 2024, another young Cuban was missing for 15 days after failing to return home from an authorized leave from Military Service in Havana. Thanks to social media exposure and public support, he was eventually discovered wandering in a park.

During the same period, 67-year-old Cuban elder Felicia Gómez Díaz disappeared in Trinidad. She left home to tend to her cattle and has not been seen since. Her family also turned to social media to gather information that could lead to her whereabouts.

The Role of Social Media in Locating Missing Persons

These incidents have prompted many families to rely on social media platforms to search for their missing loved ones due to the lack of efficient official channels. Community solidarity and the widespread sharing of information on digital platforms have been crucial in locating individuals whose whereabouts were unknown.
