The U.S. Embassy in Havana has issued a cautionary message to Cuban citizens, urging them not to fall for rumors regarding alleged new migration policies. Through a post on their official X account (formerly known as Twitter), the diplomatic mission underscored the necessity of relying solely on official U.S. government sources to prevent the spread of misinformation and fake news.

"Have you heard rumors about new migration policies? Trust only official U.S. government sources. Don't be misled by rumors and always verify the authenticity of the information. Follow us on social media to stay properly informed," the embassy stated in their message.

This announcement comes at a time when unverified information has been circulating on social media and messaging apps, including falsified documents claiming the implementation of new migration sanctions by the new Trump administration.

The embassy was explicit in clarifying that any changes in U.S. migration policy, or in other aspects of the relationship between the two countries, will be communicated through their official channels.

On Wednesday, a purported draft from the Department of Homeland Security went viral on social media, claiming additional travel restrictions for Cubans to the United States, along with other measures aimed at pressuring the Havana regime. However, despite its widespread circulation, the alleged document was debunked by official sources, as reported by the news portal Café Fuerte.

In this regard, U.S. authorities reiterated on Thursday that anyone seeking genuine information about visas, migration programs, and other consular services should visit the embassy's official website or their verified social media accounts.

To stay informed on these and other relevant topics, Cubans are encouraged to follow the U.S. Embassy in Cuba on their official digital platforms and consult accredited sources such as CiberCuba for updated and verified details.
