An elderly woman was struck by a motorcyclist on a street in El Vedado, Havana. The rider remained at the scene to assist her. The incident took place around noon on Wednesday at the junction of 17th and K streets, according to a witness who shared photos on Facebook.

"The motorcyclist wasn't at fault, it was the elderly woman's lack of attention. At least, that's what I understand," stated Aramis Taboada, a broadcaster and audiovisual director. Taboada highlighted two aspects of the incident that he found heartening, suggesting that compassion still exists among the Cuban people.

"Everyone present rushed to help the elderly woman, showing concern for her well-being. They called emergency services, including the police, and stayed on-site until she was safely lifted. They even asked for assistance from a man driving a Mercedes Benz company car, who stopped and willingly took her to the hospital without hesitation. This act deserves applause," he detailed.

In addition to the commendable response from bystanders, the motorcyclist acted appropriately, tending to the woman with genuine concern. "He stayed there, maintaining the area, waiting for the authorities. He didn’t leave for over 40 minutes while I was there. He wasn't bothered by being filmed. It didn't matter to him. His honorable and responsible conduct is truly admirable. He didn't even move the motorcycle from where the incident occurred," the witness noted.
