Starting June 30 of this year, all tourists entering Cuba will be required to obtain an electronic visa through the official portal evisacuba.cu, as announced by a directive from the Ministry of Tourism. Gihana Galindo Enríquez, the commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), shared with the Granma newspaper that currently, two options are available: the physical tourist card and the new electronic visa known as Evisa.

Galindo Enríquez explained that the Evisa offers enhanced security and efficiency throughout the visa process and is more convenient for travelers. She emphasized that users must access the portal at least 72 hours before arriving in Cuba. After completing the application, a ten-character code is generated, which travelers need to input into the DViajeros platform, a digital entry form for the country.

The process generates a QR code that must be presented to immigration authorities upon arrival. In a new development, the directive mentioned that the DViajeros form can now be completed up to seven days before traveling. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the implementation of the Evisa marks Cuba's progress toward a more modern consular system adapted to current needs.

Initially introduced during the Tourism Fair (FITUR) in May of the previous year, the official launch of the electronic visa platform took place in August of the same year. However, it was not yet mandatory to use this method. With the recent announcement, the electronic visa will become mandatory for tourists entering Cuba starting June 30, 2025.
