Amanda Lemus Ortiz, a young Cuban girl, was recently admitted once more to La Paz Hospital in Madrid for the removal of a catheter placed back in December due to a new complication. According to activist Yamilka Lafita (also known as Lara Crofs), Amanda was admitted on Thursday, and following a successful procedure, she is now "back on track, eating and everything."
"The catheter was removed without significant issues," Lafita shared on Facebook. In the coming days, Amanda will undergo further tests and assessments to ensure everything is in order before she is discharged. "This marks her fourth time in the operating room, and she has overcome it with flying colors," Lara happily remarked.
Back in mid-December, nine months after receiving a liver transplant, Amanda had to undergo another surgery to place a stent in her biliary tract, which was dilating. Despite several unsuccessful attempts to position the stent correctly, the medical team concluded that surgery was the only viable solution to prevent potential damage to her healthy liver.
The surgical procedure was extensive and difficult, but Amanda recovered well. "Amanda has continued her recovery at full speed. She is eating, staying active, and might even get a year-end pass," Lara Crofs noted at the end of December.
