Israel Daniel, a 10-year-old from Cárdenas, Matanzas, is making promising strides toward recovery following a high-risk surgery that successfully removed a significant portion of a brain tumor. Danielito's journey has touched the hearts of the Cuban community both on the island and abroad. Born healthy, his life took a drastic turn after an accident during playtime initially caused a head clot.

During his treatment, doctors discovered a brain tumor that, within months, robbed him of his vision, speech, and ability to walk. On Wednesday, Christian Arbolaez shared on Facebook that Danielito underwent a complex operation with successful results. "We bring you good news. The operation was a complete success. They managed to remove a large part of the tumor without complications during the surgery," he joyfully announced.

Additionally, it was reported that the young boy is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he will remain sedated as he continues to recover. The family and medical team are awaiting biopsy results that will determine the next steps in his treatment, Arbolaez emphasized.

Community Support and Family Gratitude

The Cárdenas community and Cubans at large have been a tremendous support for this family throughout this challenging journey. "We have already sent a backpack full of toys, sweets, clothes, and 10,000 MN thanks to your donations," Arbolaez noted. Misleidis, Danielito's mother, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed with their help and prayers: "She is determined not to leave his side until she can walk out with him fully recovered," Arbolaez stated.

This case highlights how solidarity can make a difference, especially in such delicate situations. Arbolaez concluded his update with a hopeful message: "Thank you for showing that together we are stronger. Let's continue sending strength and prayers for this little champion."

Living Conditions and Further Community Initiatives

User Kiryat Poey has been following this story in the "Cardenenses en Facebook" group, detailing the harsh conditions in which the child's family lives. They reside in a space that was once a warehouse, without internal divisions, bathroom, or kitchen, relying on a bucket for basic needs. The family includes three teenagers, aged 12, 14, and 16, in addition to the affected child. They are currently waiting for a response from the Housing authorities in Cárdenas and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) regarding the possibility of obtaining more suitable housing.

Amidst the economic hardships faced by the population, Cuban civil society continues to demonstrate its commitment to life, joining forces to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable. Recently, this same community has begun mobilizing efforts to assist Alina, a mother fully dedicated to caring for her son Yaciel, who suffered cerebral palsy when he was just a baby. This situation drastically altered her life, forcing her to leave her profession as a nurse to meet all her son's needs, who is now 37 and entirely dependent on her.
