The Cuban government has revealed plans to introduce performance-based compensation for inspectors and fine collectors starting in January. Prime Minister Manuel Marrero announced the approval of a new payment system designed to evaluate the effectiveness of inspectors and all employees involved in the fine collection offices.
Marrero explained that the aim of this pay increase is to "do justice" to those individuals who earn "extremely low wages" while braving daily challenges on the streets to address violations in the food sales sector and other services. "In numerous instances, they encounter complicated situations where people insult them, and there have even been cases of aggression, which have been met with the full force of the law," he stated.
"Through these measures and additional support being implemented in various provinces, we aim to enhance the conditions for inspectors and all personnel associated with fine collection offices," Marrero emphasized.
