An American Airlines flight bound for Miami was forced to cancel its takeoff on Tuesday at Havana's José Martí International Airport due to a malfunction in the indicators of one of the rear passenger doors. Contrary to initial reports, the issue did not involve the cargo hold door.

As explained by Héctor Yoel Drago Ricardo in the Facebook group "Amantes de la Aviación Cubana," the door in question was not accessed or opened in Cuba. "The cargo hold door was not left open," Drago clarified. The malfunction was instead traced to an indicator on one of the rear passenger doors.

For safety reasons, the takeoff was aborted. The aircraft underwent a thorough inspection of the door, its indicators, and all systems as part of the standard protocol following an aborted takeoff. Flight AA1334 eventually took off at 2:37 p.m. after the necessary checks were completed.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800, registered as N989NN. Initially, a worker from Havana's international terminal reported in the "Amantes de la Aviación" Facebook group that the incident occurred in the afternoon during Flight AA1334. According to the first account, the flight had to abort takeoff at the last minute because someone allegedly left the cargo door open, as noted by the pilot.

Flight controllers reported a delay of two hours and 27 minutes, with the aircraft ultimately arriving in Miami at 3:27 p.m., despite the original scheduled arrival time of 1:00 p.m. As of the time of this publication, Havana airport authorities have not provided an official statement regarding the incident.
