Tuesday, December 17, 2024 by Sophia Martinez

A Cuban woman living in the United States recently shared her journey to gaining citizenship on TikTok, revealing how she accomplished it in a short period and without knowing English. Responding to a comment asking for details about the exam and a study guide, she outlined each step she took and the method she used for preparation.

The user, @mayla_tik_tok, began by clarifying that the test included personal questions, a reading and writing section in English, and the 100 civic questions, of which she was asked only 10. "When I arrived, the first thing I did was the writing test, then the reading, and immediately after, they started the civic questions. They ask you 10 civic questions, and you need to answer 6 correctly. If you get those 6 right, they won't ask all 10," she explained.

She also shared that some of the personal questions involved information such as her place of birth and whether she had previously used another name. To prepare, she recommended a course she found online. "I studied with Fernando's course. You can search 'Studying with Fernando' on Google, and you'll find the course. That's what I used," she advised.

The Cuban woman concluded by expressing her nervousness during the exam but relief upon passing. "They congratulated me, saying I was approved, reassuring me because I was very nervous," she admitted in the video.

Her post received supportive comments and stories of similar experiences. Many praised her intelligence and dedication, with messages like, "I watched his videos, and they helped me a lot," "You're very smart and blessed by God," and "Did you take any personal courses with him or just the YouTube videos?" Other comments included "Congratulations, my beautiful queen," "I'm so proud of you," and "Blessings." Her detailed account was appreciated by many, who found it helpful for those preparing to obtain citizenship.
