The vice prosecutor general of Cuba, Marcos Caraballo de la Rosa, announced that as part of the National Exercise for Crime Prevention and Control, Cuban authorities implemented more than 300 precautionary measures. A significant 83% of these were provisional imprisonments, primarily targeting corruption and drug trafficking offenses.

This operation took place from December 2 to December 7, aiming, according to the regime, to curb corruption, social indiscipline, and other harmful phenomena impacting the nation. Within this brief period, 1,900 preliminary case files were reviewed, with 527 of them advanced to courts for oral trial proceedings.

Caraballo described corruption as a "threat to national security" and highlighted severe cases involving criminal networks made up of officials and executives. Four significant cases have already been brought to trial.

Additionally, the exercise uncovered crimes against the national electrical system, such as the theft of dielectric oil, which the prosecution labeled as acts of sabotage.

Simultaneously, 303 fiscal control actions were carried out, resulting in fines exceeding 2.1 million pesos, the identification of tax debts surpassing 61 million CUP, and the recovery of more than 3.4 million pesos.

The government portrays these measures as a defense of "citizen tranquility," yet this initiative underscores the deep cracks in legal integrity and state management, as evidenced by recurring offenses and the lack of effective oversight. Corruption and the energy crisis remain symptoms of structural problems within the country, requiring more than sporadic operations for resolution.
