After a plea for assistance was shared online for a 15-year-old Cuban boy, who sells pizzas on the streets of Camagüey despite having a tracheotomy, numerous individuals have stepped forward to help in the midst of the country's severe economic challenges. "We can all do our part," commented Dane Amaya, a user in the Facebook group "Sales by Quantity in Camagüey," which highlighted the young man's situation.

Amaya shared that she visited the boy to bring him essential items, noting, "His conditions are truly dire in every aspect, and they genuinely need help." She described the teenager as not being in optimal health, yet "very affectionate and approachable."

The boy's mother and stepfather, according to Amaya, are "very kind people but are distressed and have been misled. Anyone who has been there knows their story."

Community's Support for Tito

Camagüey journalist José Luis Tan Estrada, known for his support of families with children working on the streets, reported that those close to the boy refer to him as "Tito." Tan Estrada mentioned, "He doesn't just sell pizzas; he sells whatever he can to support himself and earn some money."

Moreover, Tan Estrada noted that Tito is self-sufficient, cooking his meals, including making his own purée. Despite his health challenges, he is not receiving adequate care. Tito's tracheotomy was performed when he was four years old following an accidental ingestion of caustic soda, leading to multiple surgeries.

Tito's Daily Struggles and Community Appreciation

Despite his circumstances, Tito is cherished by his neighbors and those who know him. Nevertheless, he lives with relatives in the Nitrógeno neighborhood of Camagüey, facing complex family dynamics.
