Description not available

In the municipality of Báguanos, located in the province of Holguín, a truck overturned this week, according to a report from the Facebook group "Traffic Accidents in Cuba." Despite the shocking images showing the vehicle with extensive damage, fortunately, there were no human casualties.

The accident took place on the morning of December 3rd in an area known as Loma de Rejodones, on the road to Mayarí. This secondary road is reportedly dangerous due to its steep slopes and sharp turns, as noted by several internet users.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the truck, operated by drivers from the province of Artemisa, overturned while descending one of the road's more challenging slopes. "It must have been a terrifying experience for the driver, likely losing brakes or underestimating the risk in that area," remarked one observer. "That hill is quite perilous; you need reliable brakes to navigate it," added another. "Thankfully, only material damage occurred. You need to tread carefully and have good brakes on that hill," and "It made it quite far, reaching the fourth consecutive curve. Most don't get past the third," were comments from drivers familiar with the route.

Concerns regarding this stretch of road are not new for locals and regular travelers. "Whenever possible, I warn drivers about this section since many are unaware of its dangers, especially those from other provinces. I believe it's one of the most hazardous sections on the main road," commented Glenis Cruz, a resident of El Manguito.

Cruz also pointed out that the area has been the site of numerous fatal accidents over the years, particularly for large vehicles like the one involved in this incident. "Back in the 1970s, National Transport banned us from using this road because of its danger. We had to pass through the town of Holguín and enter via the sugar mill," noted Fidel Páez, confirming that the risks have been present for decades.

Traffic accidents of all kinds continue unabated on Cuban roads. Regarding heavy vehicles, this incident marks at least the fourth truck accident in recent days.
