Daddy Yankee's Divorce Sparks Raúl de Molina to Open Up About His 30-Year Marriage Challenges

Thursday, December 5, 2024 by Oscar Guevara

The recent announcement of Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González ending their marriage has sent ripples through the urban music scene. Fans, who saw them as one of the most stable couples in the genre, were shocked by the news. Amidst this revelation, Cuban host Raúl de Molina took the opportunity to share insights about the difficulties in his own marriage with Mily de Molina, his partner of three decades.

Contrary to popular belief, Raúl noted that living together does not necessarily get easier as the years go by. During his show, El Gordo y la Flaca, while conversing with his co-host Lili Estefan, he remarked, "People think that the longer you're married, the easier it gets, but that's not true; it actually becomes more challenging." He further revealed that differences and misunderstandings are a common occurrence in their daily life, which mirrors any relationship that evolves over time.

One particular issue that has caused tension in their relationship is the attention Mily devotes to their daughter, Mía. Raúl humorously explained that he sometimes feels sidelined: "At home, my wife focuses more on our daughter than on her husband. All day long, it's 'Mía, Mía, Mía.' She picks up Mía's phone 25 times a day." He even joked about their phone interactions: "I call, and she says, 'Hold on, Mía is talking, call me back in half an hour.'"

Despite these differences, Raúl made it clear that he doesn't see these issues as serious and reaffirmed his love and commitment to Mily: "We argue like every couple, but we're together. I don't think I will ever get divorced. I love my wife very much."

The host also commented on Daddy Yankee's divorce, suggesting that spending more time together, as was the case during the pandemic, can strain relationships. "Spending more time together worsened the relationship, this happens a lot. People say they don't want to retire to avoid being around their spouse all the time. Obviously, it's not the same traveling; my wife travels with me, and it's different from being at home all the time. How many people got divorced during the pandemic?" he reflected, recalling that the Big Boss recently retired from the stage, likely resulting in more time spent at home.
