The Cuban singer El Taiger will be laid to rest alongside his mother in a chapel at Havana's Colón Cemetery. This serene and permanent resting place has been secured and prepared by his manager, Teresa Padrón. In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Padrón shared that the chapel is being painted and renovated to ensure a safe haven for El Taiger and his mother. She also mentioned that the chapel will be donated to the family.
"Thank you, dear God, for everything. Without you, nothing; with you, everything," Padrón expressed, adding that a sculpture will be made in their honor. In a comment, Padrón revealed her intention for the artist's father's remains to also rest there, saying, "I am working on this with the Carvajal family, and I hope it comes to fruition."
Plans for a Lasting Tribute
Previously, Padrón had announced her desire to find a chapel at Colón Cemetery for the eternal rest of El Taiger and his mother. This intent was shared in a Facebook post by the profile Cuba Actu. A month after the singer's passing, his family visited his grave at Colón Cemetery, Havana.
The touching moment when the reggaeton artist's cousin placed flowers on his grave was shared by Padrón on social media. "I know how hard it is for you to stand in front of that grave, all that you've been through, how much you love your cousin and how much you miss him," she wrote in the post's description.
A Heartfelt Farewell
In October, the ashes of El Taiger were accompanied to Colón Cemetery by family, friends, fans, and colleagues. As the artist would have wanted, dozens of Cubans bid farewell to "La Tranka" by singing his music in unison, from "El Sano" and "Habla Matador" to "Marca Mandarina" and "El Punto," two of his recent hits.
El Taiger's youngest daughter led the procession, holding hands with Teresa Padrón. As the ashes were laid to rest, attendees placed their hands on the urn in a final gesture of farewell, while others raised their hands towards the sky. Flowers brought by many were placed atop the gravestone.
