Friday, November 8, 2024 by Zoe Salinas

A Cuban woman living in the United States, known as @dianeyiskale on TikTok, has captured the attention of her followers by sharing a glimpse into her workday at a Burlington store in California. Dianeis's video chronicles her daily routine from 8 a.m., when she arrives at the store, through her nearly five-hour shift, highlighting various tasks she performs throughout the day.

Upon starting her shift, Dianeis's first task involved organizing a rack on the sales floor, arranging products by color and positioning them correctly. She also worked in the home goods section and later received training in the clothing department, where her responsibilities included sorting garments by tags, sizes, prices, and attaching security tags. The workday is demanding, with only a 15-minute break, and her shift concludes with a security check by the guard. Despite the exhaustion, she ends the video cheerfully saying, "Bye bye, I'm heading to Walmart."

The video sparked numerous reactions, particularly from others working at Burlington or in similar retail environments. One follower mentioned having worked at Burlington for a year, to which Dianeis replied, "Do you like it? I don't." Another viewer inquired about the pay, and Dianeis explained that it varies depending on the state, store, city, and position.

Recording at Work: Surprising Reactions

Some viewers were surprised that she was allowed to record at work, to which Dianeis responded that California poses no restrictions in this regard. A user working at Burlington in Florida commented, "It's odd they let you record," and she playfully replied, "Maybe it's because I live in California, everything is allowed here." One follower cautioned her about not revealing the door code, and Dianeis thanked her for the advice.

Others sought guidance on how to apply for a job at Burlington, to which she mentioned that the process is entirely online, promising to create a video explaining the steps since she has received numerous inquiries about it. Some users resonated with the challenges of the job. "I’m starting in the tagging section, but I thought there would be more hours," a girl commented, and Dianeis informed her that this company is ideal for part-time work since "they don’t offer 40-hour weeks."

Dianeis also shared the fatigue of juggling two jobs. "Whenever I have to work at both stores on the same day, I end up exhausted," she admitted, highlighting the physical demands of working long hours. Another user, who also had experience working at Burlington, offered words of encouragement and shared her positive experience, saying, "That was my first job in this country. I love Burlington."
