Cuban Amazed by Unattended Market Stand in North Carolina: "It's Fantastic"

Monday, November 4, 2024 by Grace Ramos

A Cuban influencer recently caught the attention of his followers by highlighting something unusual he discovered in North Carolina: market stands where people can select their products and pay without anyone overseeing the process. Niover Licea (@nioreportandouncrimen) shared a TikTok video showcasing these types of stores, which he claims are quite common in the area.

"You find places like these where they sell apples and more. Look, they sell firewood here for six dollars. There's absolutely nobody around," Licea narrated.

Trust-Based Shopping Experience

The influencer provided a detailed description of a store called RedCornFarm, which offers local products such as tomatoes, peanuts, jams, and a variety of fruits. Each item has its price clearly marked, and customers can weigh and take what they want, underscoring the trust these businesses place in their patrons.

"They have a lot of stuff; it's fantastic... I just can't see where you're supposed to leave the money, but it seems amazing, and this is customary here in the north," he noted.

The TikToker concluded his video by praising the spirit of trust and honesty that defines these shops: "There’s no security guard, but they trust the people to purchase their products and also try what is locally produced."

Cubans Embracing New Opportunities

Cubans, leaving behind their homeland, often find a world of job opportunities and the richness of new traditions and customs in other countries.

Recently, two Cuban women residing in Tampa, Florida, with just two years in the United States, ventured into starting a food truck business, a journey they've shared on social media to inspire fellow compatriots. One of them, who also serves as the "host" in each TikTok episode (@lacalientefoodtruck), described their story as one of perseverance: "With only two years in the United States, we started our own food truck business in Tampa."

Similarly, a young Cuban shared his recent academic achievements on social networks, including a Phi Theta Kappa certificate and his recent acceptance into the University of South Florida (USF). On TikTok (@itselmanu__), the young Cuban posted a video of the admission message from the esteemed USF, presenting it as a significant milestone in his life.
