On Thursday, U.S. authorities deported a group of 34 Cuban migrants who had entered the country illegally, sending them back by air. The deportees, consisting of 31 men and three women, arrived at Havana's José Martí International Airport.
The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) reported that upon arrival, one of the individuals was immediately detained and is currently under investigation for allegedly committing a crime before leaving Cuba.
This recent deportation brings the total number of Cubans sent back in 2024 to 1,200. These deportations have been carried out through 82 return operations from various countries in the region, including not only the United States but also the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic.
It's important to note that the figures provided by MININT refer to the calendar year from January to December, differing from the U.S. fiscal year, which begins on October 1st.
