The Cuban government has dismissed claims circulating on social media about a supposed mass poisoning in Havana, allegedly caused by the sale of expired products taken from a container. On the social media platform X, the capital's government entity declared that these are false reports.

Additionally, it urged the public to rely solely on official sources and refrain from spreading such rumors, which it claims are meant to instill panic and distrust among citizens. A similar scenario unfolded in December 2023, when Havana authorities debunked online reports regarding the alleged sale of expired foods stolen from a container.

At that time, the regime shared images of a notice warning about a hypothetical container that was discarded, containing expired goods that were stolen and sold at low prices in an effort to quickly dispose of them. The pro-government portal Cubadebate echoed the government's response, reminding readers of a previous incident in January 2020, when messages about alleged salmonella contamination in Arcor brand products had spread.
