On Wednesday, Miami Police Chief Manuel A. Morales announced that Damian Valdez Galloso, previously identified as a "person of interest" in the case involving Cuban reggaeton artist Jose Manuel Carbajal, known as El Taiger, has been confirmed as the shooter responsible for the artist's death. Valdez Galloso was apprehended in New York after a diligent pursuit by Miami police officers who traveled to the city to assist in his arrest.
"Damian is the shooter, he is accountable, and no one else is involved," Chief Morales stated during a press conference. He indicated that the crime took place in Hialeah. Morales also mentioned a forthcoming video that will provide further evidence and expressed gratitude to the Miami and Hialeah communities for their cooperation in solving this crime.
Legal Proceedings and Community Cooperation
Chief Morales emphasized the ongoing collaboration with state prosecutors, including Prosecutor Katherine Fernandez, to ensure that appropriate charges are filed against Valdez Galloso, ensuring he faces justice for his actions. In the coming days, Valdez Galloso will be transferred to Miami-Dade County to face charges. Morales assured the public of the suspect’s guilt, backed by video evidence to be presented to the prosecution.
Morales also dismissed circulating rumors that El Taiger's death involved torture or was part of a retaliatory act. "There is no evidence of torture; he was murdered," Morales clarified.
Swift Justice and Law Enforcement Efficiency
The chief commended the police force for swiftly capturing the fugitive in under a month. He highlighted the department's impressive record, solving 97 percent of crimes in the state, underscoring the effectiveness and dedication of Miami's law enforcement.
