During a live broadcast of the "A Fondo" show, América TeVé host and journalist Juan Manuel Cao sternly addressed Venezuelan analyst Luis Fernando Atencio after he disparaged fellow journalist Karines Moncada, a colleague at the network. The incident unfolded when Cao was transitioning to a commercial break and introducing Moncada. Atencio's whistle caught the attention of the audience, and he subsequently accused her of being "one of the most misleading figures in the media."
Cao swiftly intervened, condemning the guest's behavior as disrespectful and emphasizing that it was inappropriate to criticize a colleague in the "house that invites you." He remarked, "It's not just your opinion; it's bad manners... I've never seen someone insult a member of the host's team when they're a guest."
The whistle was also labeled as sexist by Cao, who highlighted the importance of maintaining respect in all discussions. "It's an impolite gesture... It contradicts everything you promote regarding respect for women," he asserted.
Although the guest attempted to defend his actions, the program pressed on despite the awkward moment. "Having said that, we can continue perfectly with the political discussion; I have no issue," Cao stated, steering the conversation back to its focus on analyzing the U.S. electoral predictions, with just a week left before the presidential elections.
